Sophie's 5th Birthday Cake

I had been asked a while ago now to make a cake for friends little girl who was 5 in July. She was having a Fairy Party at her Grandparents house with all her family and friends. The theme was Fairies and her mum Andrea had asked if I could do a Fairy Toadstool! After a lot of internet research I decided on my design, I did base it on a beautiful one I had come across on the net, so I cannot take the credit for the design only my interpretation of it. I made this one on the same day that I made Kerry's so the kitchen was very manic!

Andrea asked for a Vanilla Sponge with Chocolate Buttercream. I made two pudding basin cakes and went from there! I was very pleased with the result. The fairy was also handmade from Mexican Modeling Paste, I had made her the weekend before along with 'Kerry' the climber.

Sophie's face was a picture when she saw the cake, all that hard work was defiantly worth it....

Happy 40th Birthday Kerry!

One of my best friends, Kerry is also turning 40 this year. Her Birthday is in October, but she decided that she wanted to celebrate during the summer. A day out was planned for Saturday 21st July 2012. Kerry booked a BBQ area at Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Southampton for all her friends and family. It was a fantastic day and even the rain, that had been torrential all week, held of for us. The sun shone for most of the day. A very organised BBQ was cooked for all, games were played and everyone had a great day, including all the kids.

I had decided that I was going to make her a Climbing Cake for her birthday, so when she announced that she was having a summer party, Martin said I should make the cake for then as everyone would be there.

Slight panic set in! I had already agreed to make a Fairy Toadstool Cake for a little girl called Sophie for the same day and we were also heading off to Spain on the Tuesday after the party!
Anyway, it all went fine! This is her cake and I know she was delighted when she saw it! I think she nearly cried too......
